About Seoul Market Wire

Seoul Market Wire is an independent publication covering the Korean stock market, the won and the Korean economy for investors and readers outside Korea. It is edited by , who sets its editorial direction.

Our desks

  • Markets Desk — The Markets Desk reports the Korean session close: KOSPI and KOSDAQ, the won, the biggest index movers and the investor flows behind them. Numbers first, KST close stated, sources linked.
  • The Broker Room — The Broker Room reads Korean-language broker research every trading day and reports what the firms are saying, where they disagree and what changed, attributed by firm and date. It never adds ratings or price targets of its own.
  • Flow Watch — Flow Watch tracks the data: foreign and institutional buying and selling, and the price-target changes brokers publish. It reports what the numbers show and leaves the interpretation to readers.
  • Second Look — Second Look takes a sceptical view of the consensus: the caveats buried in bullish notes, the minority views, and the questions a headline leaves out. It challenges arguments, not companies, and makes no recommendations.
  • Explainers Desk — The Explainers Desk writes patient, practical guides to how the Korean market works for international investors, built on official sources and updated when the rules change.

How we work

We use automated tools to gather market data and Korean-language broker research and to prepare drafts. Every figure is checked against its source before publication, and each story lists those sources. Market data is stamped with the Korea Standard Time (KST) close it belongs to. The editor decides what we cover and how.

When we report a broker's view we name the firm and the date of the report and restate its figures and reasoning in our own words. We do not reproduce report text.

What we do not do

We do not give buy, sell or hold recommendations, and we do not publish price targets of our own. Seoul Market Wire is not a licensed investment adviser. Read our disclaimer.
